The story behind this map is that, in this world, there are four
Mage Wardens, representing each magic-using character class. Each
of these Wardens has two vassals - one knight and one barbarian.
These four great powers have kept the peace in the land for almost
an age... until the coming of Lord Cethron.

Lord Cethron is a being so powerful that even the gods were not
completely able to stop him. He was able to corrupt two of the
four Wardens and seed the land with monsters before the gods
were able to contain him. They managed to strip him of some of
his power and confine him... but eventually, it will be up to one
of the remaining free Wardens to destroy him for good.

This one was designed to be playable by two people in cooperation (or
in the normal single/two person competitive modes). Everybody starts
out with very powerful armies and heroes, so it should be a real
slaughterfest.

The spy/messanger characters at the beginning are an element I use in many of
my scenarios - I find that it's very useful for kicking the computer
players into action. If the computer feels secure in its position,
it'll just sit there like a dumb nut and wait for a human player to
enter its sphere of influence. If one of its heroes and towns is
threatened, though, it wakes up and starts to conquer a bit more.

There IS the off chance that, if you're unlucky, Lord Cethron will make
a premature escape from his prison, before you're prepared to face him...

This map was playtested - I hope all the bugs were taken care of!

Get ready to rumble!

Update 5/21/97: As several people so generously pointed out to me, the
Purple Player could be selected in the previous version of the map. With
the game conditions set as they are, this meant that you won in the first
round because you had Lord Cethron on your side. Obviously, that was a
bit of a mistake.
